And yes, after I read it, I did look up a survival website, and have just purchased enough canned food and waterproof matches to last me a while. Martindale is a master at manipulating opposing. I hope the author can erase that kind of thinking, if it was intended, because this is the best book I've read in a long time. Martindale comes from the Buddy Ryan coaching tree - a pressure-heavy, man coverage, scheme that has different tendencies than Patrick Graham. But I'm not sure even that mentality explains the prejudice in this book. I know the author is a graduate of Liberty University, which is conservative to the point of blaming 9/11 on the "immorality of America". (To be honest, some of the "gay" rapists are inbred, poorly-dressed, moonshine-swilling mountain men, and that is totally absurd: I don't know a single gay man who would be caught dead in overalls.) But I digress. Almost all the bad guys are Hispanics, and every homosexual man is a rapist.

A very relevant book for todays problems. When John Martindales father, Joseph, died, it was John who registered the death. The author obviously has alot of military experience, and it makes the story believable (and kind of scary). This is like G.I.Joe meets Planet of the Apes. No, it's not James Joyce, but I don't know anybody who wants to read James Joyce.
